Welcome

Dear Fellow Alumni and Friends of San Fernando High School,

On behalf of the San Fernando High School Alumni Association, I would like to thank all those who attended and supported the 6th Annual Alumni Fundraiser Dance. By supporting this event, you have helped ensure that the Association can continue to reach out to our high school seniors by awarding scholarships. The Association’s commitment to providing financial support, as well as sponsoring activities that widen and enrich our students’ horizons, can only be realized through the continued support from our community.

Alumni Associations are one way for former students to connect their past to the present, and the present to the future! Becoming a paid member of our Association ensures that we continue to develop and sustain strong ties to our school community. In our constantly changing society it is important that we all establish and maintain benchmarks to loyalty, commitment, dedication and service. What could be more fundamental than to “be true to your school?”

In the six years of our association’s existence, we have awarded over $30,000 in scholarships. This is a good start, but I know we can do more. I am proposing that we challenge ourselves by incorporating THE POWER OF TEN into our fundraising efforts. We all know at least ten people who graduated or attended San Fernando High School. We need to make them aware of our good work, and encourage them to become involved with the Alumni Association; whether it be by becoming paid members (only $25/year), buying a ticket to our next Alumni Dance, donating a prize or service for our auction, or simply volunteering during the fundraiser – every contribution counts!

Since 1896, tens of thousands of young adults have walked through the halls of San Fernando High School. If even a fraction of our alumni gave back a few dollars each year, we could move mountains. We could make a lot of dreams come true. As proud Tigers we all share a special bond. Let’s demonstrate that bond with action. Let’s use the strength of our numbers. If we don’t raise the money to help our kids, who will?

Thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,
Diane Velarde-Hernandez, Class of W’70
